Stuart Lamp of Decatur, Alabama is a USA Cycling Level 2 Certified Coach with 15 years experience racing mountain bikes, road races, criteriums, stage races and time trials, as well as more recently competing in 5-10km running races. He currently races as a Pro on the MTB and Cat 1 on the road. Stuart works full time in cycling as the USA Cycling Regional Coordinator for the Southeast, overseeing all aspects of competitive cycling in the area — a job which allows him to be easily accessible to his clients.

Stuart helps his athletes through monthly training programs, one-on-one skill training sessions and instructional clinics in preparation for road, mountain bike, running and triathlon events. His athletes benefit from his extensive racing experience and his ability to guide and inspire athletes to achieve goals through proper training and recovery, bike handling, and technical skills, in addition to reading and understanding race dynamics. He also teaches them to closely monitor the mental outlook that drives training, competition and overall performance. Stuart utilizes the scientific aspects of performance improvement by creating programs that address each athlete’s specific strengths and weaknesses in relation to their goals. Just as importantly, he understands the need for balance in training, work and family life, and can help you optimize your training by getting the most out of your training time.

Stuart started racing mountain bikes in Alabama in the fall of 2000, and quickly established himself through dedicated training, winning many regional events in the Southeast. He followed his passion for bike racing to North Carolina where he joined the Lees McRae Collegiate Cycling Team. He eventually switched from mountain bike to road racing during this time and won several individual races and championships, crowning his collegiate career with a win in the Team Time Trial win at the Collegiate National Championships.

Stuart graduated from Lees McRae in 2006, and moved back to Alabama to work in Sports Marketing for his hometown of Decatur, Alabama. In 2007, he went to work for USA Cycling, where he works presently. He has continued to race, winning several Pro 1/2 races in his region. Stuart’s recent entry into running has resulted in podium finishes in every running race he has entered, and he will complete his first marathon in November. He is using these events to target upcoming duathlons, and triathlons with the ultimate goal of competing in an Ironman in the near future.
