Jim has been competing in triathlon since 1984, when he schooled Scott Tinley, Dave Scott and Scott Molina on the swim in his very first race, the Bud Light USTS triathlon in Atlanta. Since then, he’s competed in more than 100 triathlons, finished 2 Iron-distance races, a handful of 70.3 races and 11 marathons. He’s also dabbled in Masters swimming (he’s a consistent national Top-10 performer) and mountain biking (he was an Expert-level racer). Jim has been coaching runners and triathletes with Team in Training since 2005, and, despite all of that, still loves the sport. He believes that with balance, consistency and a little creative scheduling, you can be successful in both triathlon and life. His awesome wife, Amy and goofball daughter, Nola would attest to that.
